Task
The TV documentary “Das Ende des Schweigens” (“Breaking the silence”) is a record of the trial against Auschwitz concentration camp guards and their supervisors. BlueMars was retained to design and implement an internet version of the documentary for the core target group of schoolchildren/young people.
Solution
Given the complexity of the issue, BlueMars stripped the task down to its essential core: “helping to understand.” This aim was successfully completed chiefly thanks to design and user interface. For a target group with such a high internet affinity, the technical potentials offered by Flash 7 were consciously exploited to the full.
Result
The target group and affected persons both gave an unqualified welcome to the web special. For its work on “Das Ende des Schweigens,“ BlueMars garnered the IF-Award, the German Multimedia Award, a Eurobest precious metal award, and a Grimme nomination. The digital momentum: the tapping of technological potentials and the adoption of appropriate design elements enabled younger users to explore the harrowing facts of the case while retaining full control of the experience.
